We set off
After years of planning and a busy few final months we have finally got this show on the road. Maybe leaving straight after Alison's 60 th wasn't a great idea but we were very keen to get going.
We drove out through West Wyalong, popped into West Wyalong cemetery for Alison to seek Ken and Ruth's blessing for the trip. Following a coffee at Thom's it was on to Lake Cargelligo. We stayed at a nice free camp by the lake with a deep red sunset.
Our plan the next day was to push to Mutawintji National Park but the 700 km, dodging feral goats, emus and roos, proved too much for us. We ended up at a less than salubrious road side rest area. I was worried the trucks would keep us up, but we slept through well, tucked up in travel mode in the Domino.
The next morning we went up the scenic 60 odd km of dirt track through various sheep stations into Mutawintji. I will leave the various disasters/learning experiences we had there till the next blog . We had a great walk that evening so here are some photos from that.
